How Liberation Group cut energy and water consumption by 50% since rolling out Wexiödisk warewashers across the UK
Published 21 August 2024
The Liberation Group are truly making their mark in the industry having curated 130 pubs, bars and inns across the South of England and Channel Islands, each of which champion a distinctive style and feel.
With a plethora of awards collected - especially in the last 12 months - the Liberation Group are setting new standards for British pub groups. This extends right through to the group’s shining sustainability standards for commercial equipment as Freddy Ridgway, Facilities Manager, Liberation Group, captures:
“At The Liberation Group, the goal is to set the bar high and be talk of the town. We are always looking for appliances and brands that offer positive energy saving credentials which has led us to work closely with Hi-Tec Property and Hospitality Services.”
Hi-Tec has a vast client base which in recent years, has largely supported customers in the hospitality and pub group sector. Not only do Hi-Tec offer design, fitting, refurbishment and PPM support for customers, but they also offer real-life product comparisons for clients. This is something that Hi-Tec conducted on behalf of Hi-Tec, as M and E Manager, Ed Barlow, details:
“As part of the consultation process with Liberation Group, we decided to take a scientific approach to commercial kitchen appliances, first looking at warewashers. To achieve this, we installed energy monitoring equipment to three different brands of dishwashers operating at Liberation Group pubs. After a set period, we then collected real-life measurements of final rinse volumes, number of baskets used, water usage and energy usage.
Once this data was collected, we pulled together a spreadsheet of results and found that Wexiödisk’s WD-6 Duplus came in with around 40% less energy consumption than the closest competitor. What’s more, water and chemical savings were significant too with water consumption being nearly 50% than the closest competitor! Projected across an entire estate and looking at the life cycle of the appliance made the decision a very simple as backed by data. The figures speak for themselves, especially when over a million pounds is projected to be saved over 10 years.”
Wexiödisk was the first in the world to introduce a dual final rinse system for hood dishwashers. This patented rinsing technology uses considerably less clean water than traditional final rinsing systems. With the new DUPLUS technology, only 1 litre of fresh water is used per wash cycle - a remarkably small amount that still delivers perfect dishwashing results. The low water consumption combined with extremely low consumption of chemicals and electricity, makes the WD-6 DUPLUS the perfect dishwasher choice for the modern commercial kitchen.
Freddy Ridgway, Facilities Manager, Liberation Group, continues:
“Since completing this research, we have agreed Wexiödisk as our chosen supplier for dishwashers, with DUPLUS models being a top priority in all of our kitchens.”
An example of one of The Liberation Group sites that isn’t just combating energy, chemical and water usage with their Wexiödisk WD-6 Duplus and WD-4S undercounter models - but high warewashing demands too – is the newly refurbished Northey Arms, (Box, Wiltshire) , managed by General Manager, Maddy Sinclair:
“With our previous brand of dishwasher, we would have to stop half-way through service to let the machine ‘calm down’ and reset itself which was far from ideal. Now with our WD-6 Duplus, we can keep on top of dishwashing demands without worrying about time or quality of results.”
Quality is a key focus for the Swedish warewashing brand, who take great pride in the build and design of the machines themselves, as Ed goes on to echo:
“From our experience, we’ve found Wexiodisk products have a tremendous life cycle of around 15 years. We are able to benefit from this because of Wexiödisk’s outstanding build quality and the fact that the cost of parts are incredibly reasonable. Essentially, maintenance of a Wexiödisk product isn’t going to break your bank, and the machine will efficiently run for decades when looked after.”
These reasons are just some of the many plus points that an operator, dealer or group can extol when investing in Wexiödisk warewashers. Simply put, Wexiödisk machines tick boxes from all angles, and as Ed’s plainly finishes:
‘Why wouldn’t you choose Wexiödisk?
